This Week in Our Classroom


Phonics
This week in phonics students will be practicing hearing sounds in words and writing them.

Reading
In reading this week students will be comparing and contrasting fictional stories.

Guided Reading
Students will be practicing reading each word on the page and begin learning kindergarten sight words.  The words we are working on this week are: this, is, and my.  Students who do not know all their letters will be working on letter recognition during this time as well.

Writing
In writing students will be working on writing the sounds they hear in words to label their stories.

Math
Students are being assessed this week on counting, reading, and writing, and comparing numbers from 1-20.

Monday, October 22 - Fundraiser Orders and Money are due
Wednesday, October 24 - Picture Day
Friday, October 26 - Free dress for $1
Wednesday, October 31 - Harvest Celebration

Harvest Celebration
On Wednesday, October 31 we will have a Harvest Celebration.  Students can bring a treat to share with the class and wear a costume to school.  We have 17 students in our class.
Classroom Donations
 If you are able, the classroom needs GALLON-SIZED zip lock bags. Thank you in advance for your donations!
