This Week in Our Classroom

Phonics
This week in phonics students will continue to learn about syllables in words. Throughout the day we will continue to work on knowing all the letters of the alphabet and the sounds that each letter makes.

Reading
In reading this week students will be learning to listen to a story and think about key details in the story.  We will be practicing asking and answering questions about key details in the text.

Guided Reading
Students will be practicing reading each word on the page and begin learning kindergarten sight words.  The words we are working on this week are: my and is. Students who do not know all their letters will be working on letter recognition during this time as well.

Writing
In writing students will be working on writing the sounds they hear in words to label their stories.

Math
In math students will be working on reading and writing numbers 1-20.
