Homework and Exhibitions

There will be no homework today or tomorrow. Use this time to finish getting your child prepared for presenting their exhibition next week.

If you still have not signed up for an exhibition time, please do by tomorrow.

Milestone #3 and Book Fair

Milestone #3

Don't forget that milestone 3 is due tomorrow. Student must bring their completed visual in.


Book Fair

The school book fair will be on Wednesday, December 12 from 4-6:30pm.  A catalogue of some of the books that will be at the fair is coming home in your child's homework folder today.

This Week in Our Classroom

Phonics
This week in phonics students will be practicing hearing sounds in words and identifying sight words.

Guided Reading
Students will be practicing reading each word on the page and learning kindergarten sight words.  The words we are working on this week are: we, have, go

Writing
In writing students will be working on writing words for their stories by writing the sounds they hear in words.

Math
In math this week students will be working on comparing weight and volume.

Exhibitions

If you have not signed up for an Exhibition time for your student, please make sure to do so as soon as possible

Milestone #3

Milestone #3 is due this Thursday.  Students must bring in their completed visual for their exhibition.  The visual can be a book, board, model, etc.

A Kindergarten Thanksgiving

The kindergarteners will be celebrating Thanksgiving together on Wednesday, November 21.  We are asking parents to volunteer to bring in food to share.  There is a note in your child's homework folder today about this event.

In reading this week students will be learning about non-fiction texts.

Guided Reading
Students will be practicing reading each word on the page and learning kindergarten sight words.  The words we are working on this week are: here, is, my, see, dad, said

Writing
In writing students will be working on writing an All About Me book.

Math
In math this week students will be working on measuring the length of objects.

Milestone #2

Milestone #2 is due next Monday (November 19).  For this milestone, students must bring in the books, magazines, internet print outs, etc. that they are using to learn about the topic they chose for their exhibition.

Special Notes

It is getting cold outside and unless it is below 32 degrees or raining, we will still go outside for recess. Please make sure your child comes to school with a warm coat and a hat, scarf, gloves, and boots if the weather requires it.

Also, if you haven't already done so, begin to have your child practice zipping their own coat and tie their shoes.  With 17 little ones and just me it so so helpful and saves a lot of time when students can complete these tasks on their own!
